A Survivors Detection System for the Search & Rescue Organizations (IN-SIGHT)
The portable Ultra-Wideband (UWB) radar, working as sensor for live human beings detection in disastrous areas.
The potential user can belong to different rescue organization such as fire fighters, police department or other.
The operation principle of radar is based on Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology that proposes of application of Microwave radiation in form of short energy pulses. This technology provides very high range resolution enabling the detection of small-scale movement in the size order of several millimeters, such as the movement of the chest cavity of a breathing person even when unconscious.
The In-Sight project includes the following phases: operational characterization, technical characterization, research, development, and production of two prototypes.
Within the frame of this work two prototypes have been produced for short and long ranges. Short range radar is in Geozondas Company, Vilnius.Long range radar is in Elisra Company, Israel. The devices have the following characteristics: – Reliable mapping in a noisy environment – Achieving high probability of detection – Coverage of large areas in short time – Portability - easy to carry and operate – Low price
Radars are based on Real-Time Receiver and Antenna Sets. Depending on Antenna Sets used Radars differ in there characteristics and functionality
